Our journey began in fire...

Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness - beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...
Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private wounds.... and desires.

The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...

Ahh, Bared to You. What can I say? What can I write about this captivating book as opposed to the widely-read Fifty Shades trilogy without comparing both authors' wild imaginations and ideas?
Well, Bared to You is a mile better than Fifty Shades, in my opinion, as it wasn't completely fuelled with sex and "kinky fuckery".

I admit, I loved it, even though I'm not supposed to read it until I'm 18, come this August, but hey, I couldn't refrain myself when the hype of erotic fiction hit the book industry. As soon as I started reading this hell of a book from page one, I knew it would be a roller-coaster of a book. Though I'm not a big fan of Twilight, I could pick out the similarities of both the books. Let's just say, Bared to You is an adult version of Twilight.

The story follows Eva Tramell, a young advertising agent, who stumbles upon the delicious and elusive Gideon Cross. During the first few chapters of the book, it was really wonderful to read about how Eva and Gideon would cross paths and the instant electricity which coursed through them. I can assure you, Gideon Cross is no Christian Grey, as he is the exact opposite of the mercurial Dominant in the Fifty Shades trilogy. No second guessing needed as we all know Eva and Gideon would end up together. Damn right, the romance of Eva and Gideon.. What can you say about a relationship which started when a mysteriously sexy hunk of a man tells you he wants to shag you?

Eva and Gideon's romance was the main reason why I kept reading, I couldn't help but wonder, how could something so delicate as love could be achieved out of lust and desire for each other. And of course, the sex was mind-blowing and earth-shattering, as described very intricately by the ever talented author, from a passionate shag in the back seat of a limo to frosting glass windows to ensure privacy for sex. I loved the sex scenes as they were raw, emotional and passionate. The way Sylvia wrote about the feelings coursing through Eva and Gideon were real and very intense, I could even hear my heart pounding in anticipation. I've got to hand it to Sylvia Day. I was hooked on this book, I only needed 3 sittings to finished this absorbing tale of passionate love and troubled pasts. As the book blurb says "the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart...", the plot deepens into the pasts of both characters which remained a mystery until they trusted each other fully to delve into them.

Funny enough, my best friend and I shared the same visualisation of Eva - the ever gorgeous Scarlett Johansson. But when it came to Gideon, mine had to be the right one. The spot on. The spot where the nail was hit and it sank in properly. Based on the description of Gideon, I could tell he was a splitting image of... Ian Somerhalder.

I really enjoyed reading what Sylvia had to offer, because when it came to erotic fiction, I could hardly pass that, can I? For me, Bared to You was irresistible, delicious, sexy, captivating and passionate. Well, not particularly in that order but if I were to be given the chance to praise it, I'll say "Deliciously intense, sexy and alluring". I couldn't recommend this enticing read enough. It's amazing, the feeling after reading it. I can't wait for Reflected in You which will be out in October 2012.

I would really like to thank Penguin for sending me a copy of this beautifully written book, and thank Sylvia Day for writing it. Feel free to tweet the lovely lady (@SylDay)
