(Sort of) Massive Book Haul!

Hello, dear chicken nuggets. How is everyone doing? I, for one, can't believe that it's already the end of February. What is happening to time and why is it moving so swiftly?

My new semester has just begun and I am still quite shocked that I'm almost done with my degree (I have about a year left - 2 semesters). In case you're wondering, I'm an English Linguistics major in University of Malaya!

Also, I have been trying to do the whole Bookstagram thing. Heh. Do check out my Bookstagram feed (@bookevin_)!

So, you're probably wondering what this book haul is.. I mean, who doesn't love books? And what's more exciting than receiving books in the mail? Here goes!

First up, the lovely folks over at Macmillan USA sent me these beauties for review and I swear, I felt my heart stop when I saw A Conjuring of Light in the flesh. WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT HULK OF GORGEOUSNESS?

  • Caraval by Stephanie Garber is probably one of the most anticipated books of 2017, especially since it's a reminiscence of The Night Circus which everyone loved (and I am ashamed to admit that I've not read it yet). Gorgeous cover, everyone is talking about it. I've got friends who loved it and I really can't wait to discover what this beauty has in store for me!

  • Wintersong by Sarah Jae-Jones is one stunning book in the flesh. I've heard so many good things about this book, which is about a girl who offers her hand in marriage to the Goblin King to save her sister who's been held captive by him. It sounds incredibly lush and I am totally looking forward to reading Wintersong!

  • A Conjuring of Light by V. E. Schwab is going to be the end of me because I loved loved loved A Darker Shade of Magic and A Gathering of Shadows. I guess you could imagine my excitement when I unearthed this hunk from the envelope. Preaching to the Gods of books, I know that I am truly blessed for this.

  • The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi is my current read and hand on heart, I must bare my soul and admit that every word is so lush and beautifully written, I am envious of Roshani Chokshi who's such an incredible storyteller. I am already loving The Star-Touched Queen!

OKAY, you ready for the next pile of gorgeousness? Because I can't believe I got them. Most of them are ARCs so I have to thank my lucky stars for these exciting reads!

I received this stack of beautiful and amazing books from the lovely lot from HarperCollins International and MPH Distributors. Swoooooooon!

  • First up, By Your Side by Kasie West. I've always wanted to give Kasie West's books a go because my friends who love contemporary YA books just love Kasie West. Imagine being locked up in a library over a weekend with a cute guy? Totally in for it. Scratch that, just the books, thank you. No one is going to interrupt my reading time.

  • I really enjoyed Ruined by Amy Tintera and the ending left me shocked to the core. I was lucky enough to land an ARC of the sequel, Avenged and I am so ready for a fast-paced fantasy book! If you'd like to check out my review of Ruined, here it is.

  • Hunted by Meagan Spooner is a Beauty and the Beast retelling and I am all about retellings. Nothing draws me into the story a book like an author's twist on a classic story we all love.

  • Beheld by Alex Flinn is the next Kendra Chronicles books. I remember enjoying Alex Flinn's retelling of Snow White in Mirrored! And that was in 2015! Check out my review of Mirrored if you want to read about my thoughts on it!

  • Forever, or a Long, Long Time by Caela Carter is actually an MG novel and I had no idea. I thought it was a YA book but from the blurb, it sounds wonderful and I would definitely give this one a try!

  • And finally, the glorious King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard! I finished this one before starting my current read and I thought it was totally different compared to Glass Sword and I really do hope that Book 4 will be epic. Keep a look out for my review as I am still writing it but I shall share it soon!

So here's my recent of book haul, guys. Once again, I'd like to thank Macmillan USA, HarperCollins US International and MPH Distributors Malaysia for these books!

Have you read any of the books I got? Have you received/bought/read anything good lately? I'd love to know! Stay golden, fried chickens!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I had issues with the plot, but oh her writing was heavenly.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Some parts were quite confusing but the writing is lush!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Such an amazing haul!! I loooove Caraval and I can't wait to read A Conjuring of Light!! Sad story, even AGOS hasn't been sold in Indonesia so I pre ordered ACOL from TBD and still waiting for it to arrive πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I read Wintersong but put it on hold at 50% to read Caraval haha not sure when /or if/ I'm gonna pick it up again... I'm a huuuuge fan of Kasie West bu By Your Side was my least favorite book :( I hope you enjoy it though, but even if you don't I hope it won't scare you away from other Kasie West's books hahaha :P ANYWAY I love your blog and am wondering why I never stumbled across it before πŸ˜‚

    ReplyDelete
  38. I finished Caraval, The Star-Touched Queen and Wintersong! And I have to say, I'm drowning in feels.

I can't believe they haven't got Schwab's books in Indonesia. They do have them here in Malaysia but they are so expensive!

I started on By Your Side but I had to set it aside after 5 chapters. I just couldn't get into the story 😭

Thank you, Puput! Your blog is as gorgeous, if not more! So in love with your aesthetics ❤️

    ReplyDelete
  39. Alright maybe I have to pick up Wintersong again hahaha I know right!! They have ADSOM but like, a year late and omg it's true, it's so expensive πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it either, it was pretty boring haha buuut if you still want to give Kasie West another chance, my favorites are PS I Like You and The Distance Between Us :P
