I've come across a few characters in Country Loving, some of which are wonderful, friendly people and some, not so. So here's what Cathy has written for you regarding a few of her characters!
Character Profiles: Talyton St George
Maz Fox-Gifford
(previously Harwood)
Profile:
Appearance: Tall and slender with pale blonde hair, Maz
reminds her friends of Gwyneth Paltrow in looks.
Place of birth: Battersea, London
Age: Early 30s
Occupation: Partner in Otter House Vets with her best friend
from Vet School, Emma.
Likes: Fashion and sporty cars
Dislikes: Horseriding
Notes: Maz decided she wanted to be a vet when she was
twelve years old and, in spite of coming from a disadvantaged background,
worked hard to achieve her goal. Her nickname at Vet School was Hacker Harwood
due to an unfortunate incident with a scalpel. She loves her job, but she is
forever losing stethoscopes, leaving them lying around in the practice or
forgetting to bring them back from visits to clients’ homes. She is married to
Alex Fox-Gifford, the moody farm animal vet and owner of Talyton Manor Vets and
they have a son together called George.
Jack Miller
Profile:
Appearance: Tall with broad shoulders, brown eyes, a tan and
sun-kissed highlights in his hair. He wears green polo shirts with the Talyton
Animal Rescue logo, cargo trousers and boots with odd laces, one black and one
tan.
Age: Early 30s
Occupation: Animal Welfare Officer
Interests/Hobbies: Jack has an interest in animal welfare
worldwide, having spent some time abroad. He is very practical and often helps
people out as a handyman.
Notes: Jack is the strong, silent type. He can be assertive
though when occasion demands it. He has
a way with all animals from injured swans to neglected horses. He carries
equipment such a catchpoles and cages in the back of his van. He is the
boyfriend of Tessa Wilde who runs The Sanctuary, an animal rescue centre in
Talyton St George.
Fifi Green
Profile:
Appearance: Overdressed in coordinating outfits, handbags
and shoes. Usually wears a hat.
Occupation: Lady Mayoress, Treasurer to the WI, member of
the town’s Meet and Greet team and sometime President of Talyton Animal
Rescue. Owns the garden centre on Stoney
Lane with her long-suffering husband.
Notes: Aunt to Tessa. Troubled by bunions. Although
considered by the people of Talyton to be an inveterate gossip and professional
busybody, interfering in everyone else’s business, Fifi does have a kind heart.
In spite of being married for many years, she also has a reputation for being a
man-eater.
Quote: From Maz on meeting Fifi; ‘Fifi Green reminds me of a
Yorkshire terrier: sweet-looking with big brown eyes and long lashes, but full
of attitude.'
