The blurb:
Tess Brookes has always been a Girl with a Plan. But when the Plan goes belly up, she’s forced to reconsider.

After accidentally answering her flatmate Vanessa’s phone, she decides that since being Tess isn’t going so well, she might try being Vanessa. With nothing left to lose, she accepts Vanessa’s photography assignment to Hawaii – she used to be an amateur snapper, how hard can it be? Right?

But Tess is soon in big trouble. And the gorgeous journalist on the shoot with her, who is making it very clear he’d like to get into her pants, is an egotistical monster. Far from home and in someone else’s shoes, Tess must decide whether to fight on through, or ‘fess up and run…

Why you would love this:
Cards on the table. I am a massive fan of Lindsey Kelk. I am a loyal devotee to Lindsey's I Heart series since I first read I Heart New York and my love for her books hasn't deterred over the years. I've stuck with Angela through thick and thin, she's become a close friend of mine and I think I could totally relate to her most of the time.

But we're not talking about Angela any more, because right now, we're being introduced to another lovable heroine you would want to root for. My dear readers of chick lit, meet Tess Brookes. I was so chuffed to have won a copy from a Twitter competition held by Lindsey. If you buy the book (I'm sure you would, please do. It's delightful - more of that later), you'll find MY NAME (it's Kevin Loh, by the way) and my question featured at the end of the book. I have never been more proud of myself.

About A Girl is mainly about Tess Brookes, a twenty-something girl who has an organised life plan. She's good at what she does and one day, she finds her life falling to bits when things don't go her way. In need of a clean slate, she "borrows" her flatmate's identity and poses as a fashion photographer and before she can say "ALOHA", Tess finds herself in Hawaii, thousands of miles from her troubles, but how long can she pretend before her identity is revoked?

Right from the start, I knew About A Girl would be another winner! What's not to love, it's set in beautiful, sunny Hawaii, it's got one of the prettiest covers of 2013, probably ever and you have a hero which will no doubt remind you of RYAN G. It's obviously THE must-have summer read. Tell me what's wrong with the book and I'd fire back at you the merits of reading About A Girl.

Like all her previous books, especially the I Heart books, the heroine, Tess is a character who carries herself very well throughout the entire book. Although Lindsey denies this, but I feel that there's a huge chunk of her in her characters and that is incredible - expressing your feelings through your heroine. I adored Tess, she's funny, sharp and witty. She could easily be your favourite heroine, but I need more persuasion because Becky Bloomwood and Angela Clark are in that position. What I'm trying to say is... Lindsey should write a sequel, make it a series!

I felt the book move rather well, I was keen to read on and discover about what lied ahead of Tess's adventures in Hawaii! Accustomed to Lindsey's writing (mostly from her tweets and books), it feel good to be reading another of her books again. It's similar to the feeling you get when you read a Sophie Kinsella novel and you know it would be a brilliant read.

Verdict:
I strongly encourage you to read About A Girl, it's the second series by Lindsey Kelk and it's utterly fabulous. It leaves you with that warm, gooey feeling you get when you've watched an incredibly good rom com. Another winner by Lindsey Kelk, who tells us that no matter how you mess up, there is always the turn around that would lift you out of the rut you're in. A sparkling escapist about discovering what you really love, which will leave you wanting more. About A Girl is ace!

Psst! Don't forget to stop by on July 11th as it will be my stop on the About A Girl blog tour! I'll giving away 3 copies of About A Girl, plus an interview with Lindsey!

Rating: 5/5

EMMA STONE as Tess and RYAN GOSLING as Nick
They are disgustingly sweet together. Just saying. Or is it just me?
