Blurb:
Darcy Archer works in a small bookstore in Manhattan. A daydream believer, she refuses to settle for anything less than being swept off her feet by the perfect man… literally.

One day, when cycling to work, Darcy accidentally crashes into a sharply dressed gentleman walking his dog. He is knocked out cold, rushed to hospital and the poor pup gets left behind.

Wrecked with guilt, Darcy takes the dog and makes plans to reunite him with owner, Aiden. As she discovers the mysterious stranger's world of books, travel, adventure and all the wonderful things she's ever dreamt about, Darcy builds a picture of this man and wonders if he could be THE ONE…

But does fantasy match reality? What happens when Prince Charming wakes up? Will Aiden be the happy ever after she's always imagined?

Why you would love this:
I'm slightly shamefaced to admit this: I've only read one of many of Melissa Hill's books. My first was Please Forgive Me which I really enjoyed, my mum too! So when I got an email regarding Melissa Hill's latest book, I jumped at the chance. A Gift to Remember is truly a book to remember!

The book follows the story of Darcy Archer, manager of a small bookstore in Manhattan and also a believer in happy endings as she's a bibliophile. One day, on her way to work, she crashes into a man, walking his dog and is knocked out and Darcy gains temporary custody of his dog, a gorgeous Husky. Guilty, Darcy takes this opportunity to compensate for what she has done and when Aidan, the man wakes up at the hospital, having suffered head concussions with temporary memory loss, Darcy sets out on a quest to help him rediscover who he is, and along the way, Darcy realises that he could be The One for her. But does reality match up to fantasy?

Darcy was a very brilliantly written character, I can say with full confidence that she would be liked by readers! She's a bibliophile and I think I could definitely relate to her. She wants the happy ever after she deserves and hopes for her very own Prince Charming to sweep her off of her feet. The other characters, especially Joshua and Darcy's neighbour were a great addition to the novel!

I adored the plot as it was a bit of a mystery and I raced through the book to find out whether Darcy got her happy ever after! The discovery of Aiden was quite a shock, but definitely a pleasant surprise, if you ask me. Since reading A Gift to Remember, I've been walking past pet shops and making goo-goo eyes at Huskies. Gosh, they are adorable - wait till you get the chance to read all about Darcy's new companion, Bailey!

If you're a loyal fan of Melissa Hill's books, take no surprise when I tell you what an amazing book Melissa has written. A magical, heartwarming story which will appeal to book lovers and believers of true love and happy endings. Oh, and dog lovers too! A Gift to Remember is a perfect companion for you if you fancy staying home on a wintry night, nursing your favourite warm beverage and let the beautifully-written plot whisk you away to the breathtaking Manhattan at Christmastime!

Rating: 9/10
