Blog Tour: Love Like The Movies by Victoria Van Tiem - Dream Cast

DREAM CASTING for LOVE LIKE THE MOVIES by Victoria Van Tiem

Pull up a casting chair and let’s dig in. First, we need to meet the cast: Shane Bennett, Kensington Shaw, FiancĂ© Bradley, Best friend Ellie, & Frenemy Tonya.

Shane Bennett : Tall, dark & romantic with wavy dark hair and copper gold eyes. Yum. Oh and he’s British. Double yum. When I wrote LOVE LIKE THE MOVIES, Shane was always a mix of HUGH DANCY from his modelling days and James Marsden From 27 Dresses. They both have that wonderful messy hair. Just blend James’s feral smile with Hugh’s speech mannerisms and you have my Shane. Here’s how he look’s from Kenzi’s eyes...
My gaze fixes on a man about twenty yards away. He’s in a dark suit, with rumpled hair, and he’s holding a phone to his ear. He’s walking toward me. A cocky grin spread across a scruffy jaw. He’s frickin’ gorgeous.
Why is he in a suit? He smells of musk and temptation, proving the Devil does indeed wear Prada. At least I think that’s Prada. Doesn’t really matter. The point stands.

“Hello, Kensington.” The ens drags out a bit and the rest pops up crisp like a Pringle in his blended American Brit accent.

Kensington Shaw: Long hair, pretty, not too tall.

Since we experience the story through Kenzi’s eyes, I never go into great detail about her looks. Because to me, she’s you, the reader, and hopefully the story will be experienced as if you’re in her head. But right, casting for a movie… I do love EMMA STONE. Think she’d do it? I think the personality is a perfect match.  Here’s a few Kenzi moments...
I can feel Shane through the computer.
Feel him.
Okay, breathe. It’s fine. Just keep it short and say you’ve got to go. I sit up a little straighter, place both feet flat on the floor, determined to be poised and nonchalant. As if I’m composing some major literary masterpiece, I type two letters with an exaggerated exactness, then hit enter.
KENZI SHAW: Hi.

“You’re with Rand Peterson?” I like to say his name. “Rand Peterson?”
It reminds me of The Wedding Planner scene where Jennifer Lopez is drunk and can’t get into her apartment. She’s reading off the names and clicking all the buttons.
“Rand Peterson? Do you know Nancy Pong? If you ever need to borrow sugar, I can’t help you, because you don’t know me.” See? I’m doing my own movie moment. I don’t need Shane’s stupid list.
Bradley: was Paul Walker and always will be in my heart. Who else is blond, brawny and handsome? Maybe Chris Hemsworth?
Ellie: is a bit of Brittany Murphy from Clueless. She’s sweet and likeable. Who currently fits this description?
Tonya: is all sass and attitude. She’s a mixture of different Judy Greer Characters.
I’d love to hear from you. Who do you think should be cast in LOVE LIKE THE MOVIES?

Love Like The Movies is out today! Will you be picking it up? My advice, you better do!
