Blog Tour: What A Girl Wants by Lindsey Kelk - Interview

Yo, book babes! I have the amazing Lindsey Kelk, author of the I Heart series, About A Girl series and The Single Girl's To-do List and... an eBook exclusive, Jenny Lopez Has A Bad Week. I got the chance to interview her about new book, What A Girl Wants, which is out TODAY! Here's the link to my review, if you want to know why I loved it!

1.  Describe What A Girl Wants in 5 words.

Fun, funny, honest, friendship, escapism.

2. What A Girl Wants is mostly set in Milan. Did you have to go on a “research trip” to get inspiration for the book?

I did. I first went to Milan to cover Men’s Fashion Week for Marie Claire in 2012 and loved it. I so wanted to go back and as soon as Tess tried her hand at fashion photography, I knew it would work as a location. I love the Italian sense of style, it’s so old school and sexy.

3.  In What A Girl Wants, does Tess finally decide on whether her heart belongs to Nick or Charlie? Or is there another book in the way?

I couldn’t possibly tell you the answer to question one but I can confirm that there will be a third and final Tess book coming out Christmas 2015… no title yet though!

4.  So, I heard from a little bird that you’re writing a Jenny Lopez novella, which is called Jenny Lopez Saves Christmas. What’s Lady J up to now?

Oh, you know, the usual. Breaking hearts, breaking faces. It’s a fun little story.

5.  Will there be another I Heart novel? If so, where do you think Angie and the gang will be heading to?

At the moment there’s no plan for another I Heart but I can’t seem to leave Angela and co alone. There are so many places I’d love her to visit and even more stories I want her to tell. For me, the I Heart books stopped being about the location and started being about their lives with I Heart Christmas. There are stories I want to tell that aren’t necessarily attached to specific places now… we shall see.

6.  When you’re not writing, what do you do on a daily basis? And don’t say watching the telly. I know you do that every day.

I am watching the telly though. And drinking tea. Let’s see… I’m also all over Twitter and Facebook constantly and these days, I find myself running more often than not. It’s my new addiction, weird right? I’ve always been such a couch potato and now I’m obsessed. I think it could be all the cute Lululemon workout gear it means I can buy.

7.  What was the one book which made you realize that you could be a writer?

Not at all – most books make me wonder why I even bother! I read like a demon when I was little, so it never really occurred to me that I couldn’t be a writer. I was always writing or telling stories so it seemed like a natural thing for me to do, not that life didn’t try to knock the confidence out of me as I got older, of course, but that’s what life does. If you feel like a writer then bam, maybe you’re a writer.

8.  Do you have any hidden talents we should know of?

Kevin, you know I never hide my light under a bushel… I show off about everything. Um, I’m a pretty good cook when I want to be and I’m really good at setting up electronics. Does that count as a hidden talent?

9.  What do you want in life? What matters most to you?

At this point, just being happy. I’m still not entirely sure what that means but I do know I don’t want to be unhappy. It might sound silly but I’m very good at getting carried away with the more stressful and anxious parts of life it’s far too easy to carry on like that than it is to pull yourself up and try to be happy.

10.  QUICKFIRE ROUND!

Coffee or tea?
Tea. Always.

Marc Jacobs bag or Louboutins?
OOH. Probably the bag, I ruin shoes too easily.

Lip gloss or sunblock?
Looking at the terrible burn marks on my arms, sunblock.

Chocolate or vanilla ice-cream?
Chocolate. I’m a chocolate hound.

Summer or winter?
Too hard! Can I have winter in LA where it’s not really winter?

Nutella or peanut butter?
Nutella without a doubt.

Waffle or pancakes?
EEEK! Pancakes. Just.

Music or books?
Now that’s just mean, there’s no way I could choose.
