Blurb:
Being arrested in your own bedroom is never a good start to the day. Tess Brookes really needs to sort out her back-stabbing flatmate – and her life.
Should she gamble all on the new photography job she’s landed, or snap up the offer from long-time crush and best friend Charlie to start up on their own – in more ways than one? There’s just one small thing she hasn’t mentioned. Or rather, one tall thing. He’s handsome, infuriating and called Nick…
For the first time, Tess has to choose between the life she always dreamed of and a future she never imagined possible. From London to Milan, with high fashion and low behaviour thrown in, she’s going to have to make up her mind what a girl really wants…
Lindsey Kelk is back with another blockbuster summer read, What A Girl Wants, which is the highly anticipated sequel to her new series, About A Girl. I’ve loved every single one of Lindsey’s books and I was hugely excited for What A Girl Wants!
What A Girl Wants continues where the previous book left off, where Tess arrives back in London after all the drama in Hawaii. Right away, I was hooked and I found it really hard to stop reading it. It was so good to read about Tess and the gang again after a year. A year! I guess from the blurb (and the ending of About A Girl), that Tess is offered a photography gig with Lovely Al in Milan! MILAN! Did Tess take this job to pursue her passion for photography or to chance a meet up with a blonde Adonis with piercing blue eyes?
I don’t think “excited” and “thrilled” could describe how I felt when I was reading What A Girl Wants! What’s not to love about Lindsey Kelk’s new series? First there was the absolutely gorgeous, everyone’s paradise, Hawaii and now it’s the fashion savvy and irresistibly charming Milan? Let’s just say, I felt like I was in the book! The things I love most about Lindsey Kelk’s books are the travelling part (pure escapist reads, all the time!), her beautifully detailed description of each setting, in Milan, which is the palazzo and streets of Milan, and of course, her sparkling humour. In What A Girl Wants, Lindsey Kelk's witty and signature turn of phrase is as fabulous as always.
The gang is back, people! Including my favourite fairy gayfather, Kekipi who is even more of a hoot in What A Girl Wants as well as the scrummy Nick and adorably reliable Charlie. So, the question is, are you on #TeamNick or #TeamCharlie? Personally, I’m the president of #TeamNick but after reading What A Girl Wants, I couldn’t very well decide! But that doesn’t matter, it’s up to Tess to decide! Remember Tess’s best friend, Amy? She plays a bigger part in this book and it was such a thrill to have her on Tess’s adventures in Milan, with her craziness and full-of-life effervescence.
Whether you’re sitting in your sofa reading this, or lying in bed or a chaise lounge by the pool, What A Girl Wants definitely delivers your fix of summer sunshine and it will put a smile on your face. An absolute treat for fan of Lindsey Kelk, What A Girl Wants is a delicious cocktail with all the right ingredients, which will leave you feeling giddy, incredibly satisfied but a stonking book hangover. A sublime Lindsey Kelk read, one not to be missed!
Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling reprise their roles as Tess and Nick. I KNOW, I just love him so much. Don't you? |
