Meet Don Tillman.

Don is getting married. He just doesn't know who to yet. But he has designed a very detailed questionnaire to help him find the perfect woman. One thing he already knows, though, is that it's not Rosie. Absolutely, completely, definitely not.

Sometimes, though, you don't find love: love finds you...

Everyone has been raving about Graeme Simsion’s debut novel, The Rosie Project and even my favourite author, Sophie Kinsella loved it. I had to find out what this book was all about and coincidentally, I won a signed copy from my dear fellow blogger, Lisa Beever’s blog. Say hi to Lisa!

The Rosie Project follows the story of Don Tillman, a professor specialising in Genetics. He has achieved so much in life, he’s a successful genetics scientist, but he has never been lucky in love. The thing is, Don has never asked someone out for a second date. So, the solution to all his relationship problems is The Wife Project, which is a questionnaire to filter the traits of suitable women for him. Enter Rosie, the complete opposite of Don. Rosie’s presence in Don’s life turns things around, leaving him uncoordinated and unlike himself. Is this the beginning of a love story? Read it and you’ll find out!

If you’ve heard of The Big Bang Theory, you’ll probably know who Sheldon Cooper is. I’m mentioning this because Graeme Simsion’s highly likeable and adorable hero, Don Tillman reminds me SO much of Sheldon Cooper. (And of course, I think Jim Parsons is cute) Don is funny, witty and basically clueless when it comes to women and it’s such a thrill to read about his adventures of finding the right woman. Don Tillman has Asperger’s syndrome, but he doesn’t know it because he’s always been like this. As the reader, you’ll find out about his peculiar need to be punctual and awfully precise. Warning bells are ringing, eh?

The characters in the book are nothing I’ve read before, there’s the super-organised and brilliant Don, the wild and free-spirited Rosie, and Don’s best friend and his wife are just fantastic supporting characters. I was so drawn to these characters, I felt like they were real! (No, Kev. Sheldon Cooper and Don Tillman are different people)

I guess the book did live up to its hype and I cannot wait to read the sequel, The Rosie Effect which will be releasing later this year. A truly delightful read, where you’ll be rooting for Don and his quest for love. Some parts were exceptionally funny and I couldn’t help but fall in love with Don and Rosie. The Rosie Project didn’t disappoint at all and I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something fresh and unique to sink your teeth into!

The gorgeous redhead bombshell, Christina Hendricks as Rosie and the guy on everyone's mind, Jim Parsons as Don!
