Blog Tour: A Very Coco Christmas - Interview + Giveaway

Hey, people!

On I Heart.. Chick Lit today, I have the lovely Robert Bryndza over for a little chat for his blog tour. And there will be a giveaway for you, my fabulous readers. All thanks to Robert! Over to you, my man!

1.  Hello, Robert! Welcome to I Heart.. Chick Lit! Would you like to introduce yourself to the readers of my blog?

Hi Kevin, thanks for having me here. I grew up in Suffolk on the east coast of England, but I now live in Slovakia with my Slovak husband Ján. I never dreamed I would live anywhere but the UK, but I've been here three years and it’s been such an adventure. It’s a beautiful country and the pace of life is a lot slower than I was used to when I lived in London. As a writer I'm best known for my best-selling Coco Pinchard series of romantic comedies; The Not So Secret Emails of Coco Pinchard, Coco Pinchard's Big Fat Tipsy Wedding and Coco Pinchard, The Consequences of Love and Sex.

2.  What is A Very Coco Christmas about?

A Very Coco Christmas is all about that first time you return home for Christmas with a new boyfriend who you know your parents will hate! This happens to Coco, who meets Daniel Pinchard during her first term away at Aberystwyth University. She is eighteen and in love, and he is bit of a bad boy from the wrong side of the river. When Coco returns to London to spend Christmas with her parents, they don’t approve of Daniel, going as far as trying to set her up instead with a chap called Kenneth who they think is far more appropriate. Coco refuses and sparks begin to fly!

The novella is set in 1985, and there is a great deal of nostalgia for when Christmas was a lot simpler and less commercial. We also see Coco’s disastrous first meeting with Ethel, her future mother-in-law. It’s a cosy funny novella with snow, romance, and a Christmas lunch involving an escaped live turkey!

3.  Could you describe A Very Coco Christmas in 5 words?

Sparkly, funny Christmas love story.

4.  If you weren't a writer, what do you see yourself doing?

I was an actor for several years, and if writing hadn't come along, I might still be doing that. But my other dream job would be as a gardener for a big house. I’d get lost amongst the flowerbeds and fruit trees, and in the winter I’d love to stoke a fire in a orangery.

5.  Describe your perfect day.

I would be by the sea with my husband and our two dogs. We’d sleep in, go to the beach where we’d swim, read, sunbathe. Then in the evening I’d cook something and we’ll curl up with a movie.

6.  Could you tell us a bit about your typical writing day?

It has to start early, before email and social media has fully woken up. I write until early afternoon or until I have 2,000 words. For a treat I love to go and write in a café.

7.  What are you currently working on, could you please tell us about it?

I'm working on a romantic comedy about a woman who leaves the love of her life at the altar. She then runs into him years later, when they are rivals in business and the sparks start to fly!

8.  If you can give aspiring writers a few advice, what would it be?

Read Steven King’s On Writing and download Scrivener. It’s the most amazing affordable program for writers.

Blurb:
It’s 1985, and eighteen-year-old Coco is home in London for Christmas after her first term at Aberystwyth University. She has started to write, and fallen hopelessly in love with Daniel Pinchard, a devilishly handsome musician from the wrong side of the river.

But Coco’s overbearing mother has other plans and resumes her campaign for Coco to meet and marry the ‘right sort of man’, preferably Kenneth, son of her best friends Adrian and Yvonne Rosebury, who will be joining them for Christmas.

As snow falls softly over the city, and Coco tries to juggle a series of hilarious events, the stage is set for a Christmas lunch like no other. A Very Coco Christmas is a delicious, stand-alone ‘prequella’ to the smash-hit Coco Pinchard series, with a glorious cast of characters including Daniel’s mother Ethel, sister Meryl – and a turkey called Jean Paul Belmondo...
