Blurb:
Heartbroken after being jilted at the altar, Sybil has been saved from despair by her knitting obsession and now her home is filled to bursting with tea cosies, bobble hats, and jumpers. But, after discovering that she may have perpetrated the cock-up of the century at work, Sybil decides to make a hasty exit and, just weeks before Christmas, runs away to the picturesque village of Tindledale.
There, Sybil discovers Hettie’s House of Haberdashery, an emporium dedicated to the world of knitting and needle craft. But Hettie, the outspoken octogenarian owner, is struggling and now the shop is due for closure. And when Hettie decides that Sybil’s wonderfully wacky Christmas jumpers are just the thing to add a bit of excitement to her window display, something miraculous starts to happen…
So, tis the season to be jolly, no? I can feel the festivities coming along when I get Christmas books in the post and no surprises, The Great Christmas Knit Off by Alexandra Brown was among the pile! *queue squeal, laughter and a bout of happy jig*
The Great Christmas Knit Off is the first book of Alexandra Brown's new series, the Tindledale series and it's been such a fabulous treat when you're in need of an escape! Just like me from exam stress and the ever mounting pile of assignments, the heroine Sybil, is in desperate need to get away - certainly not from the teeny little cock-up at work!
The book follows the story of Sybil, who is still smarting from her recent non-wedding and to top it off, she hasn't been herself lately. A massive cock-up at work is the final straw for her, determined to escape her life in London, Sybil makes a trip down to Tinderdale to pay her best friend, Cher, a visit. A little trip to the picturesque village turns into something more when Sybil shares her love for knitting with the village folk, with one thing led to another, Sybil suddenly finds herself surrounded with such a warm people. Could she ever leave? I know I couldn't!
I just love Alexandra Brown's books. Ever since I read her debut novel, Cupcakes at Carrington's, I've been a huge fan of her books. I love how she could write with so much warmth and allow her readers to fall in love with her characters, especially her heroes. *blushes* The Great Christmas Knit Off is Alexandra Brown's second foray into Christmas fiction and so far, she's been stellar!
The Great Christmas Knit Off is a fabulously festive read that will warm your hearts this winter season and you will definitely have a strong urge to take up knitting! Join Sybil and her trusted little pooch as they discover the true meaning of love, friendship and knitting! A highly recommended read for fans of heartwarming Christmas tales!
