Love Me or Leave Me by Claudia Carroll
Publisher: Avon (22nd May 2014)
Received a copy for review from Avon, thank you!
Blurb:
Two years ago Chloe Townsend was dumped at the altar and had to leave behind everything that mattered to her. Even now she’s finding it hard to move forward. That is until she lands an incredible job, running a brand new boutique hotel. Suddenly she’s starting to put her life back together, and, apart from the fact that her hard-to-please new boss is breathing down her neck, things are looking good.
But what goes on in the Hope Street Hotel is a far cry from anything she’s ever dealt with before. This is a pioneering ‘divorce hotel’ designed to make every aspect of breaking up efficient and pain-free. In one single weekend, Chloe’s team promises to take care of everything – legal, technical, emotional – and guests check out carefree and single.
No one is better qualified than Chloe to understand what couples need when their relationship is at breaking point, but she soon finds herself having to tackle the heartbreak she’s tried to bury. In particular three couples need her help – Jo and Dave, Lucy and Andrew, and Kirk and Dawn – and the opening weekend is full of revelation, trouble, memories happy and sad, facts that need facing, and some very big surprises.
It’s time to move on. And it soon becomes clear that some endings are, in fact, very exciting new beginnings...
I was over the moon when I received a copy of my Irish mammy's latest novel in the post! I have read quite a number of Claudia Carroll's novels and I have immensely enjoyed them. When this little gem arrived, I really wanted to read it right away but I was so caught up with other books and university applications, I had to neglect it for some time. Now that I've read it, I wish I had done so earlier!
Love Me or Leave Me was definitely one of my most anticipated books this year as I've mentioned, Claudia Carroll is one of my favourite authors! It follows the story of Chloe, who lands a job as the general manager at Hope Street Hotel, a brand new boutique hotel that specialises in divorces. Yes, a divorce hotel! What intrigued me the most was the entire concept of the divorce hotel. It's such a foreign term that I was really keen to find out more about it. Claudia Carroll certainly did a heap load of research for this book as the idea of the concept was just so clever!
As mentioned in the blurb, the book centres around Chloe, the general manager who hasn't had a wonderful experience when it comes to relationships and her own almost-wedding was a bit of a flop which ended in tears of humiliation (the sod didn't show up!). The other characters involved are couples which signed up for the divorce hotel, specifically the hippie couple, Kirk and Dawn, the blonde bombshell and her dear soon-to-be ex-husband, Lucy and Andrew and the fire-and-ice couple, Jo and Dave. I really enjoyed reading about their pasts, their special wedding day and even their falling out which caused the strains in their relationships.
Love Me or Leave Me is equally funny and heart rendering. Claudia Carroll could make you laugh at all the silly things the couples have done and gone through, but also make you feel for them that their love for each other isn't enough to get them through the circumstances that threaten to break them apart.

Nicole Kidman as Chloe and the irresistibly gorgeous Hugh Jackman as Chloe's love interest. |
