Received a copy for review from Harper, thank you!
Blurb:
Harriet Manners knows more facts than most.
She knows that New York is the most populous city in the United States.
She knows that its official motto is ‘Ever Upward’.
She knows that one in thirty-eight people living in the US lives there.
But she knows nothing whatsoever about modelling in the Big Apple and how her family will cope with life stateside. Or ‘becoming a brand’ as the models in New York say. And even more importantly, what to do when the big romantic gestures aren't coming your way from your boyfriend…
Does geek girl go too far this time?
Gah! I finally got the chance to read the third Geek Girl book and I can definitely confirm that this story of a geek girl-turn-international model has made me a fanboy! Just like the first two books, Harriet Manners is ever witty, socially awkward, clever and filled with a plethora of interesting fun facts!
In Geek Girl: Picture Perfect, Harriet finds herself out of the fashion world after being dismissed for her massive cock-up in Tokyo, but she can definitely forget all about that when she’s moving to America – more specifically, New York! Yes, our favourite geek girl is going over to the other side of the pond and she’s thrilled (after much thought and deliberation!). Imagine skyscrapers, penthouse apartments with views overlooking the lush Central Park, having hotdogs from one of the many stalls in New York and basically being in one of the busiest cities in the world.
I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I just have to let this out of my chest. I flipping love series, it keeps getting better and better, maybe the reason of my fanboying is because a) Harriet Manners is all kinds of awesome, b) the book is set in New York (ahem!) and c) Toby is just such a sweetheart. Like I've mentioned, the book is filled to the brim with witty, fun facts about anything and everything. So reading the Geek Girl books is actually rather educational! Plus, in the third book, it's focusses on Harriet growing up and accepting things that don't go her way – her little tantrums are pretty cute, actually, especially the one where she puts on a gentleman's suit, monocle and walking stick.
It’s another disaster-filled adventure in the Big Apple and you’ll want to hold on to your wits and keep your beating heart calm because it’s New York! No wonder the Geek Girl books have been firm favourites for everyone – it’s funny, fast-paced with the right amount of shenanigans and unforgettable moments, be it ones that make you burst out laughing or make you whoop, and best of all, the romance between Harriet and Nick is just too cute to pass up. I sort of feel guilty for devouring it in a day, thinking about the arduous efforts in writing it. Sorry, Holly Smale! *grabs furry puppy to cuddle* Roll on the next book, Geek Girl: All That Glitters!
