Hello, people! I'm absolutely delighted to be on the blog tour for Nicola Dohery's new book, Girls on Tour which will be out in paperback and eBook this week! Today, I will be introducing one of the heroines in the Girls on Tour series. Remember Poppy from Poppy does Paris? Well, let's get to know her!
Poppy
Poppy is possibly the girl I most identify with, because she works in publishing, as I did, is a culture vulture, and finds it very hard to meet men while working long hours in an office full of women (snap!). She’s creative and stylish, with a very individual vintage style. All her hobbies are very girly which also doesn’t help with the meeting-men thing. Poppy was raised by a single mum, who she adores and is turning into, but who also drives her around the bend. Poppy went on a lot of marches as a kid – as she puts it, there were so many pictures of Nelson Mandela in her house growing up, she thought he was a relative.
Age: 29
Occupation: Editor
Lives: in a tiny studio in Hackney, London, bought by the skin of her teeth.
Likes: vintage clothes, cakes, cooking, being a culture vulture
Dislikes: big chain stores, internet dating, her mother telling her to take up tag rugby, her hair getting frizzy, being hungry
Guilty pleasure: reading Enid Blyton books
Romantic history: dated Crippo (Crispin) for a year, until he created an art installation about her, called Bitch Done Me Wrong. Has been single for two years when she goes on a work trip to Paris
Go-to karaoke song: ‘Tale As Old As Time’ from Beauty and the Beast
