Blurb:
Jessica Beam is a girl who knows how to party. Only lately she's been forgetting to turn up for work on time. Or in clean clothes. Down on her luck, out of a job and homeless, Jess seeks the help of her long-lost grandmother.

Things aren't going well for Matilda Beam, either. Her 1950s Good Woman guide books are out of print, her mortgage repayments are staggering and her granddaughter wears neon Wonderbras.

When a lifeline from a London publisher arrives, the pair have an opportunity to secure the roof over their heads - by invigorating the Good Woman guides and transforming modern, rebellious Jess into a demure vintage lady.

The true test of their make-over will be to capture the heart of notorious London playboy Leo Frost and prove that Matilda's guides still work. It's going to take commitment, nerves of steel and one seriously pointy bra to pull this off . . .

Can I fanboy over this masterpiece by Kirsty Greenwood? Again? Seeing that I was gushing all great things about her debut novel, Yours Truly back in 2013. Oh, how I missed reading, guffawing and loving every page of Yours Truly. When I received a proof copy of The Vintage Guide to Love and Romance, I did an inexorable squeak and whoop of delight.

The Vintage Guide to Love and Romance is such a delight from start to finish. It follows the tale of Jessica Beam, the most beambastic heroine I’ve ever come across who has a falling out with her so-called best friend, which results in her losing her glamorous job as a blogger extraordinaire, the flat she shared with her best friend and dignity. In an act of desperation, she seeks out her estranged grandmother, Matilda. There, she also meets and befriends Peach, her grandmother’s assistant with a darling southern drawl.

Like the sound of it? That’s just half of the things Jess Beam gets herself into, but if you read Kirsty G’s latest offering, you are in for an absolute treat. I adored this book so much, I had a little moment with it after I finished it. Well, I immediately tweeted Kirsty and told her how much I loved her book. Okay, I more than loved The Vintage Guide to Love and Romance. I thought it was fantastically great fun and I couldn’t get enough of Jessica Beam and her awesomeness.

I loved the plot which was evidently very well-planned and executed. I couldn’t get enough of following Jess’s adventures as “Lucille” where she tries to follow Matilda’s guides on love and romance to capture a guy’s heart. Not just any guy, mind you. He is sexy, arrogant, handsome and everything a modern day hero should be.

Hmm. What can you expect from a writer who knows the secret formula to a best-selling plot, eh? In case you had no idea, Kirsty is the founder of Novelicious, so she’s probably had her fair share of reading and reviewing books of her own genre. The Vintage Guide to Love and Romance is no short of lovely surprises, turn of phrases and memorable, kooky “Jess” lines that will make you go “YASSSSSSSS, girl!”.

The Vintage Guide to Love and Romance is the perfect read for you if you love to laugh out loud, want cheer for your heroine and fall head over heels for the hero. It’s got such warm humour that would make your belly ache from laughing too much. It’s got the hearth that would make you root for Jess and ultimately, want her to be your friend. And buckets full of charm. A sparkling winner by Kirsty Greenwood who continues to show us what she’s got. Kirsty Greenwood is a chick lit star and she is shining as brightly as ever. I am deeply impressed with this fabulous book. It definitely made it on my all-time favourites list.

Emma Stone as AWESOME Jess and Julie Walters as Matilda.
