Blinding sunshine... A bend in the road... What became of the little girl with the sun in her eyes?
Amber was three when a car crash stole her mother's life. She doesn't remember the accident, but a stranger at the scene has been unable to forget. Now, almost thirty years later, she's trying to track Amber down.
Amber, meanwhile, is married to Ned and living on the other side of the world in London. When her father has a stroke, she flies straight home to Australia to be with him. Away from her husband, Amber finds comfort in her oldest friends, but her feelings for Ethan, the gorgeous, green-eyed man she once fell for, have never been platonic.
As Ethan and Amber grow closer, married life in London feels far away. Then Amber receives a letter that changes everything.
'Before your mother died, she asked me to tell you something...'
If you have been following my blog since I first started, you might have seen my reading and devouring all of Paige Toon’s books. My first Paige Toon novel was Chasing Daisy which was exceptionally good, so good that it made me purchase every single one of Paige’s books and falling in love with every single one of them. From Lucy in the Sky all the way to her latest one, The Sun in Her Eyes.
The heroine in The Sun in Her Eyes, Amber, hasn’t been having a good year. Her marriage is on the verge of crumbling down, her relationship with her husband is flailing and when she receives devastating news from Down Under, she flies back to be at her father’s side. With all her troubles tucked back in London, she settles back into her life in Adelaide and into the arms of the one that got away, Ethan.
So what can we truly expect from a Paige Toon novel? The quintessential love triangle? The headstrong, independent heroine? The utterly dishy hero? All of the above? The Sun in Her Eyes is Paige Toon’s tenth novel and it still stays true to her perfect recipe for a delicious read. It captured my attention from the first page and kept me hooked throughout the entire book, with unexpected twists and turns.
Like most of the readers, I might have fallen a little bit too hard for Ethan. I admit, Paige managed to create characters that are so likeable but at the same time, they are flawed or affected by their pasts. I was totally smitten with Ethan when he first made an appearance and I had an inkling that he and Amber would end up together, but then, Paige threw a spanner in the works by revealing the adorable and swoon-worthy love story between Amber and Ned – how they met and fell in love – which made me fanboy over the whole relationship!
The Sun in Her Eyes is indeed a real treat as it really draws you in and keeps you hooked from page one, whether you’re rooting for the sexy bad boy Ethan who has a special spot in Amber’s heart or Ned, her sweet and caring husband who’s miles away, you will fall in love with this Paigeturner! Well, I stayed up and finished this gem by Paige Toon and The Sun in Her Eyes is another reason why she has a spot in my heart for delicious summer reads.
I'd like to thank Simon & Schuster UK for sending me a copy for review. The Sun in Her Eyes is out now on paperback and eBook! Have you read The Sun in Her Eyes? What did you think about it? Let me know in the comments section below!
