I was so glad I bought Crown of Midnight along with Throne of Glass because I couldn't get enough of Sarah J. Maas's books! Of course, I loved Throne of Glass - it was fast-paced, exhilarating and so good - and I just had to read Crown of Midnight to see what happens after Celaena Sardothien becomes the King's Champion.
All right. Where to start, eh? Aside from the fact that the series keeps getting better? Well, maybe I'm being biased towards Sarah J. Maas because I loved two of her books? Scratch that. Three, now! Crown of Midnight continues where the first book in the series left off, where Celaena is the King's Champion and she's been sent to assassinate the King's enemies. However, Celaena can't seem to find it in her heart to kill for the tyrant. With more lies she spins, the more entangled she'd be, but how can she force her loyalty to the man who destroyed what she held dear?
*runs around and screams "I LOVED THIS BOOK!"*
Crown of Midnight is phenomenal. I am a complete Sarah J. Maas fanboy now. Like, it's official. I have fallen head over heels for the Throne of Glass series and I am looking forward to read Queen of Shadows! If you thought Throne of Glass was an epic tale of a coming-of-age heroine set in a fantasy land, think again. Sarah J. Maas has indeed upped the ante for Crown of Midnight as she weaves a story of mystery, hidden secrets behind castle walls and betrayal.
I loved this book so much. I can't get some parts of it from my head. There was a little underlying of romance in Throne of Glass where Celaena develops something more than friendship with Dorian, but in Crown of Midnight, the romance between Celaena and Chaol! I knew there would be something between the two of them from the first book and I am extremely chuffed that Sarah J. Maas wrote about them. What Celaena did for Chaol was just beautiful. One of the best romance scenes I've ever read. AND SO SWEET. OMG. I CANNOT.
Before you axe Crown of Midnight off your list of amazing books to read, rest assured, it's also action-packed and fast-paced as the first book. However, what makes Crown of Midnight different from the previous book is that it's more than sword-slashing, it delves deeper into the world of Erilea, a time where the King of Adarlan wasn't the master of the universe. As the book progress, more and more fragments of the book are revealed and slowly, you'll discover more of Celaena's world.
Thrilling, exciting and utterly magnificent. Crown of Midnight is every bit of escapism you can get from reading a book. It whisks you away from reality, into a world where you have to rely on your wits to survive and a place where magic has been destroyed but wisps of it are still lingering. A world where Faeries exists. Imagine how cool that would be! And look out for a shocking revelation in the ending of Crown of Midnight that makes the book a complete game changer. I'm reading Heir of Fire now and I can't wait to fully indulge myself in Erilea once again!
