I think I’ve died and gone to book heaven because of this epic conclusion to a much-beloved series.

“Only you can decide what breaks you, Cursebreaker. Only you.”

I am still suffering from A Court of Wings and Ruin withdrawals. I am not kidding. I am still thinking about what happened and I am in a desperate need of a reread from A Court of Thorns and Roses just so I could lose myself in the amazing world Sarah J. Maas had created.

How can I properly put my thoughts into words when Sarah J. Maas exceeded every expectation I had for the conclusion of Feyre and Rhysand’s story in A Court of Wings and Ruin?

I thought I had figured out the outcome of A Court of Wings and Ruin, only to be completely blown away—again—by the sheer brilliance that is Sarah J. Maas’s ability to weave stories into a beautiful, glorious masterpiece!

Before going into A Court of Wings and Ruin, I had to mentally prepare myself because this is the end we’re talking about—at least for Feyre and Rhysand’s story—but it’s the first time we’re reading a book that offers the conclusion to a series by Sarah J. Maas. Of course I’d be nervous. Heck, I was terrified.

“You and this city helped wake me up—helped bring me back to life.” His eyes flickered as I smiled up at him. “I will fight with everything I have, too, Rhys. Everything.”

This might be a spoiler for you if you’ve not read the first two books—you should totally read them though, just saying—so I suggest you to scroll down!

A Court of Wings and Ruin picks up where the second book, A Court of Mist and Fury left off. I was gasping to find out what happened after that ending, that horrible, cruel, heartbreaking ending that Sarah J. Maas pulled. We find Feyre in the Spring Court, learning everything she missed while she was away in the Night Court and plotting her revenge on Tamlin the tool. That’s all I’m telling you. You’ll have to read A Court of Wings and Ruin because you need to feel everything that is thrown at you! Also, there’s a massive war coming and Rhysand is charming as ever.

“I see all of you, Rhys. And there is not one part that I do not love with everything I am.”

Plot-wise, I thought A Court of Wings and Ruin had a slower build-up compared to A Court of Mist and Fury, but regardless of that, it gave me a chance to be reacquainted with the world of Prythian and of course, lap up every word written by Sarah J. Maas. Hell, I would read her daily to-do lists because I love everything she writes.

A Court of Wings and Ruin is nothing short of a thrilling, heart-stopping roller coaster ride where you’re blindfolded and constantly surprised by the sudden twists and turns. Not for the weak-hearted but if you die from reading A Court of Wings and Ruin, it is totally worth it.

This enchanting series will always have a spot in my hall of fame because I just adored everything about it, especially the characters. The Inner Circle, to be more specific. Heck, I have a WhatsApp group named after it because my friends and I loved A Court of Mist and Fury so much after reading it. I am not kidding.

I just lived for the playful banter and constant bickering between the gang. And I am always in stitches whenever Amren becomes a boss ass bitch and schools everyone, especially Cassian. Oversized bat.

“Why should I be scared of an oversized bat who likes to throw temper tantrums?”

And the part where Feyre returns to the Night Court and they welcomed her back? I felt my heart soar. In A Court of Wings and Ruin, you’ll see more of Nesta—who I have a very personal connection with and I love her because we are both very much alike—and Elain.

Similar to ever fanboy and fangirl out there, I was shipping the characters so hard. Because who doesn’t deserve a happy ever after? Right, Sarah J. Maas? RIGHT?

I was completely smitten with Feyrhys in A Court of Mist and Fury and I was so pleased to see that they were such a fantastic duo. I am happy. Kevin with the frosty ass heart is happy. Though I must warn you, there’s a very sexy chapter so be prepared.

This particular line made my heart break. Bit by bit.

“I have no regrets in my life, but this. That we did not have time. That I did not have time with you, Nesta. I will find you in the next world - the next life. And we will have that time. I promise.”

The writing. Gods above, is Sarah J. Maas a mage? She’s a stellar writer, undoubtedly.

In A Court of Wings and Ruin, she further expands the universe and we get to go on an excursion to visit the other courts, which thrilled me endlessly. You'll get to meet the other High Lords of the other Courts. I was actually quite taken by Helion, the High Lord of the Dawn Court—I am fairly certain you know why.

Sarah J. Maas writes magic.

I was incredibly enamoured by the writing and her beautiful descriptions. I wish I could just magic her words into an outfit I could wear. I’d be the envy of every reader. Her ability to weave such an epic, spellbinding tale would make the Weaver turn green with envy!

I don’t even think my review of A Court of Wings and Ruin would do the book justice. I am in awe. I am in love and I am completely head over heels addicted to what Sarah J. Maas writes. That ending? Cauldron boil me and turn me into a stunning Fae, I thought it was clever, shocking and incredibly written. I just can’t wait to find out what happens next and who the central characters will be in the fourth book.

I really like how things ended in A Court of Wings and Ruin because there are countless possibilities that Sarah J. Maas could explore in the upcoming books!

(In case you’re wondering, Feyre and Rhysand’s story ends in A Court of Wings and Ruin. Books 4-6 in the series will focus on another character and it will be set in the same universe!)

Verdict:

Utterly magical, fantastically epic and action-packed, A Court of Wings and Ruin deserves all the stars in the universe. The story is a masterpiece that grows with a fantastic arpeggio to a glorious crescendo and for its finale, a triumphant consonance that will leave you deeply satisfied—or ugly crying.

A Court of Wings and Ruin took my breath away with its beautiful writing, masterful action-packed scenes and hilarious banter.
