If you knew me well enough, you would have known that my love for Lindsey Kelk’s I Heart made me name my previous blog, I Heart.. Chick Lit.
2013 saw the supposed conclusion of the series, ending with a bang in I Heart Christmas but I was so glad when I found out that there will be a last hurrah for the beloved characters in this much loved series.
I Heart Forever takes place after the events of I Heart Christmas, where Angela Clark is now happily married to her rock star other half, Alex Reid. Helming Gloss, a magazine she started with Delia, everything seems to be peachy. That is until some changes take place at work when Delia takes over Spencer Media, the media company which controls Gloss and other popular magazines.
Hell, I really don’t want to spoil anything for you because you’ve got to read I Heart Forever to actually know what happens so I’ll just leave it to that.
Okay, fine. Since it’s already mentioned in the blurb anyway, our favourite caliente Puerto Rican princess is getting married! Expect loads of bridezilla moments and wedding talk!
What I liked about I Heart Forever is that we see so much character growth in Angie. Granted, she does have her adorable, facepalm-inducing moments at times—which make her so likeable, but I realised that she’s grown so much since the first book.
The gang is back and we shall rejoice!
Going into I Heart Forever, I had a bittersweet feeling because I was so happy to be among familiar characters who I grew to love throughout the series but at the same time, I wasn’t sure I was ready to say goodbye just yet.
In I Heart Forever, we do see a more matured and different side to Angie and I liked that. Well, Jenny Lopez was a force to be reckoned with, who, in my humble opinion, was more entertaining than watching those Kardashians fake-live their lives. I was really surprised when Cici wasn’t her usual bitch ass self in this book, considering how much I hated her in the previous books—my point, character growth!
I liked that there’s a good measure of reality added into the mix, which definitely made the book more relatable to times. As a millennial who is planning to enter the workforce, it was something I could relate to.
Despite the different tone of the book at times, I still found I Heart Forever enjoyable. So what if Angie isn’t travelling to different cities like she did in the earlier books?
Expect wild shenanigans, lots of LOL moments and some pretty heartfelt moments too, in this stunning conclusion.
I hold this series very close to my heart and I am hoping against hope that Lindsey might write a spin-off. A Jenny Lopez spin-off, if you please, my darling twinsie!
